It was the big one on Saturday night, the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. And it wasn't red hot bookies favourite Sweden who won, but Austria, after great scores from both the juries and public.
The world's biggest music event, Eurovision attracts a massive TV audience every single year, as fans across the globe tune into watch the contest, which is turning 70 next year. This year the competition is broadcasting live to the world from Basel, after Nemo won for Switzerland in Malmo 12 months ago.
And, after a week of semi finals, which saw 20 countries qualify and 11 eliminated, the Eurovision 2025 final took place on Saturday, as a trio of hosts take charge of proceedings. A total of 26 countries competed in the grand finale, with the qualifiers from the semis, joining the big 5 - UK, Spain, France, Germany and Italy - and host nation Switzerland on stage, as jury scores are given and people all over the world cast their votes.
If you've watched Eurovision since big changes were made in 2016, you'll know that the public votes can change everything, with the biggest scorer with the juries often eclipsed by another act once fans have had their say. KAJ from Sweden had been the long standing favourites for the 2025 title but it was JJ from Austria who won, after racing into a lead after plenty of 12s from juries and then a public score of 176, to eclipse Israel, who had gone into the lead after getting a huge 297 from viewers.
The UK representatives were Remember Monday, but sadly for them, after they ended up 10th with the juries on 88 points, they got zero from the public.

Who is Eurovision winner JJ?
Well done to JJ!
JJ is a 24-year-old Austrian-Filipino singer-songwriter, who has been causing a real stir this Eurovision season, thanks to his superb operatic vocals on entry Wasted Love, which has also been making an impact at pre-parties and rehearsals thanks to its surprising change of tempo near the end.

Born in Vienna, JJ might already be familiar to viewers in the UK, after he auditioned for The Voice UK in 2019 and made it all the way to the Knockouts on Will.IAm's team. He has also competed on Starmania and, speaking about former winner Conchita earlier this year, commented: "Conchi is my mother. I would die for her. She shows me that no matter who you are, you are important and loved."
On the subject of JJ going to Eurovision, Stefanie Groiss Horowitz, Programme Director at broadcaster ORF in Austria, said: “JJ is an exceptional talent! With him, we are sending a unique artist to Basel who brings his own magic to the Eurovision Song Contest stage, with captivating pop and classical singing.”
Israel score highest with the the public
They very nearly won the whole thing after a huge public score of 297, including 12 from UK viewers
So Austria win in Basel
He was second favourite to win going into the final and JJ has triumphed at Eurovision for Austria
UK finish in 19th
88 points for the UK's Remember Monday, all from the juries and nothing from the public
United Kingdom get zero with public
That's so cruel on Remember Monday and they're one place worse than Olly Alexander last year in 19th
Israel get 297 points
And that takes them into 1st place. Don't think they'll stay there though!
