Firefighters from as far north as Linn County will travel to southern Oregon to aid local efforts to contain the Garner Complex Fire, the Oregon State Fire Marshal's office said Saturday.

Incident management teams from Klamath and Lane counties will also join Rogue Valley firefighters as Oregon Gov. Kate Brown declared the series of fires in Jackson and Josephine counties a conflagration.

The Garner Complex Fire has so far scorched 6,382 acres and is 8 percent contained, the state fire marshal's office said.

The conflagration classification comes days after Brown declared a statewide wildfire emergency, opening the way for Oregon National Guard helicopters and troops to assist in battling blazes across the state at the request of the Department of Forestry.
