Two Visitors Injured In Sandys Parish Collision
A 50-year-old visiting American woman and a 72-year-old visiting American man were injured following a collision in Sandys yesterday [March 22], while an 18-year-old woman remains in stable condition on a general ward following the collision in Smith’s on March 12.
Two Visitors Hurt in Sandys Parish Collision
A police spokesperson said, “Around 1:30pm on Thursday, March 22nd police and first responders attended a reported collision on Middle Road in Sandys parish near the junction with George’s Bay Road.
“It appears that two rental [50cc] auxiliary cycles were being ridden along Middle Road in the westbound lane when a car driver attempted to exit a nearby driveway.
“Apparently one of the rental cycle riders collided with the car, while the other rental cycle rider following behind attempted to stop suddenly and fell to the ground.
“A 50-year-old visiting American woman riding one of the rental cycles was hurt and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
“At last check this morning [March 23rd] she was recovering in stable condition on a general ward.
“Her pillion passenger, a 12-year-old visiting American boy, was not injured and the rider of the other rental cycle, a 72-year-old visiting American man, sustained relatively minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
“The three are visiting from Colorado and there were no other injuries reported. However all three vehicles involved were damaged.
“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.
18-Year-Old Now Recovering on General Ward After March 12th Crash
“At last check this morning [March 23rd] the 18-year-old woman that was seriously hurt in a single vehicle car crash that occurred around 10:20pm Monday, March 12thon Middle Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Clarendon Road, continued to recover in stable condition on a general ward, after initially receiving treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
“The investigation continues and any witnesses or persons that have not already come forward with information about this crash – which injured the vehicle’s five passengers as well as the driver, who was initially arrested on suspicion of impaired driving – are still encouraged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

A good way of insuring accident decrease due to this cause is installing cell phone blockers in motor vehicles and outlaw helmet wireless or Bluetooth of same.
