Delaware had a record soy bean harvest last year. Yesterday the USDA antional Agricultural Statistics Service released 2017’s final crop production numbers. The entire Mid-Atlantic region saw record soy bean yields; Delaware averaged 51 bushels per acre, up 23% from the previous year. Delaware Department of Agriculture Secretary Michael Scuse says good weather helped farmers get into the fields during key points in the season. Delaware also posted its 3rd best corn harvest to date, which Scuse says is good news for local poultry growers as well, since they will end up using that for feed grain.
